I have been a teacher for 21 years in 3 different states. Sixth grade Ancient History is one of my favorite subjects. I raised the bar high for my students and loved seeing them reach the expectations that were set. Sixth grade is a transitional year and I welcomed the challenge of preparing students for middle school.
I attended the University of Hawaii, where I earned a degree in Elementary Education and played on the Wahine Basketball team. I enjoy playing basketball, water-skiing, and city league softball. Reading is a passion of mine and I can easily get “lost” in a good book. I also love eating—Italian, Mexican, and chocolate are some of my favorite foods. I am a people person and love to laugh.
I am looking forward to my third year as the Lehi Campus Director. Our teachers, students, and families are first class and I'm excited to continue to learn, laugh and grow with them.
I believe in collaboration; Ascent Academy is fortunate to have 2 other campuses wherein our monthly collaboration will be invaluable. I know actively engaged parents are essential to their child's success at Ascent Academy and I encourage your participation.
For the past few years I have worked with the management and administration of several charter schools across the state of Utah. This experience has given me a passion for education, and has given me a love for teaching and learning.
Family is also something that is very important to me. I recognize the impact of good parents and understand how critical their influence is to the growth and success of a child. My wife and I look forward to welcoming our first little girl this August and will most likely be taking notes from the great parents at Ascent Academy.
I was born in Utah but grew up in Nebraska where I became a huge Husker fan! Upon completing high school, I moved back to Utah where I attended Utah State and Weber State University. I first completed my Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management and then went on to complete my Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction.
In my free time you will most likely find me building or fixing things. If I am not working on a project then I am probably outdoors playing sports, camping, fishing, boating, or enjoying the lake.
I am extremely excited to join Ascent Academy and look forward to working with the amazing teachers and students of this school.
Hello! My name is Darlene Springer. I am very excited to be part of Ascent! The school has a great education model and staff to support it. And the atmosphere is very comfortable (which is much needed for any learning environment).
Education has always been one of my primary values. I had two years of college when I married in 1981. After the birth of my second child in 1985, I went back to school part time. Over the course of 13 years I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and my Master’s Degree in Clinical Counseling. In 2010 I completed an endorsement in school counseling. Most recently I have completed an advanced certification in College and Career Readiness. One of my favorite authors, Viktor Frankl, referenced the power of our minds (and education) in any circumstance. Thus, education gives us purpose and excitement.
Counseling so connects with education. Experiences are discussed and goals are set for healthy behavior and managing feelings. This allows for that purpose and excitement in education to happen. In school counseling, focus is on how to handle life stressors that come up. These include anxiety, communication, frustration tolerance, managing feelings, self-esteem and friendships. More difficult stressors that surface for students can include coping with family conflicts (divorce, death, deployment etc).
I am from Chicago, IL. We relocated to UT four years ago when my husband retired. I appreciate diversity and love people. In my free time I enjoy being with my family. I have five grown children and three grandchildren. I love having fun with them. We camp, vacation (Disney is a favorite!). We also hike, play games and eat a lot together! I love to read, craft, cook and crochet.
Along with Ascent, I’m waiting to see what my next education goal will be…
I have worked as a secretary for an insurance and finance company and as a manager for background screenings. I was a substitute teacher and found I loved working in a school environment.
I love to quilt, sew, and make crafts. My husband, Jared, and I have 5 children ages 4-17. Disneyland is a favorite family vacation place. I enjoy going to the movies and eating popcorn. I am a professional shopper. I’m looking forward to working at Ascent Academy and getting to know each of you.
I'm excited to be working at Ascent Academy Lehi! I grew up in Provo and I've been married for 36 years. We have 4 children, 2 boys and 2 girls and 2 incredible grandkids, 1 boy 1 girl. I've had lots of different jobs from crossing guard to medical office but my favorite is school front office, which I've done for about 5 years total. I love gardening, reading, riding my bike, traveling with my family and anything else that lets me spend time with them.
