Hi, I’m Mrs. Schaefer!

I am so fortunate to have worked at Ascent Academies since we opened our first campuses back in 2014. I love Ascent, it is my home! Our mission is my passion! The SEM model is what sets our school apart from all the rest.

I deeply care about meeting the diverse learning needs of each of my students and helping them to learn what they love, and love what they learn. I believe that children should have the opportunity to discover the magic of learning for themselves. When children are interested in, and see the relevance of what they are learning, their natural curiosity takes hold and provides a deep motivation and excitement to learn. For me, there is nothing more exhilarating than being part of this journey. 

My fifth grade teacher had such a positive impact on my life. Ever since, my dream has been to make a difference in the lives of children each day.

I graduated from Weber State University with degrees in both Early Childhood (K-3) and Elementary Education (K-6). I have four amazing daughters, and four adorable grandchildren. In June of 2018, I married my best friend, Jason Schaefer. 

My hobbies include reading, gardening, writing, spending time with my family, going to concerts, and learning about the incredible diversity in our world. I also enjoy problem solving and critical thinking, which must be why my favorite subject is math.
